Bonobo: First Fires (feat. Erykah Badu) 12

I used to be a huge Bonobo fan during his Tru Thoughts days and early Ninja Tune releases, but we drifted apart. However, the Erykah Badu song on the b - side caught my eye. Bonobo's 'professional' sound really impressed me. He's far from a bedroom producer now. 'First Fires' with Grey Reverend is expertly crafted, with every element carefully placed. The Badu track 'Heaven For Sinner' could easily fit on one of her own albums. Bonobo adds rich depth by layering vocals and instruments over a hip - hop drum kit.
