Description

Discover the outstanding sophomore album from the UK's Cambridge art - rock band, Black Country, New Road. Just four days before the release of this follow - up to 'For the First Time', the band announced a major change: lead singer Isaac Wood left. Listening to 'Ants From Up There', it's clear this album was meant as his breakup statement. Wood uses the symbol of the discontinued Concorde jet to convey a dying relationship, as heard in the line 'but for less than a moment we'd share the same sky, and then Isaac will suffer, Concorde will fly'. The band's sound has evolved, moving from post - punk to chamber - pop like Arcade Fire's 'Funeral'. Tracks like 'Chaos Space Marine', 'Good Will Hunting', and 'Basketball Shoes' show strong Montreal indie - rock influence. There are also subtle hints of Klezmer music. 'Ants From Up There' is their most accessible work yet. This release comes in a black double - vinyl pressing, housed in a gatefold sleeve with a lyric booklet, and includes a digital download. It's from the Ninja Tune label in 2022. Also available is 'Black Country, New Road: For The First Time Vinyl LP'. Reviewed by SHH! in 05/2023.

Using this vinyl record is easy. Just place it on your turntable, gently drop the needle on the starting groove, and enjoy the music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting dirt or oils on the record, which could affect the sound quality. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place, standing upright in its sleeve to prevent warping. When not in use, keep the record in its gatefold sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. The included lyric booklet can be a great addition to your listening experience, so handle it carefully too. And don't forget, you also have a digital download, which you can access on your preferred music - playing device for on - the - go listening.
