For the first time ever, 'Another Thought' is available on vinyl! Originally released on CD in 1994, two years after the death of the prolific composer and cellist Arthur Russell, this album features tracks from 1982 - 1990. Cataloged from over 800 tape reels by Mikel Rouse for Point Music and produced by Don Christensen, it captures the final decade of Russell's life. The music is filled with boyish innocence and playful romanticism, having a timeless quality that doesn't sound like it's from the 80s. Russell was known for constantly revising his songs, so his feelings about these tracks are unclear. This compilation exudes a rare warmth and intimacy in pop music. At its heart, it consists of deceptively simple pop songs influenced by Russell's unique creativity. Some tracks resemble his well - known disco productions, like 'This Is How We Walk On the Moon'. 'In the Light of a Miracle' hints at proto - house with its interwoven vocals and Indian classical percussion elements. The double vinyl comes in kraftliner sleeves with white litho printing and art paper inner sleeves. Recommended! Music label: Arc Light Editions 2013. Reviewed by Michu Meszaros 12/2013.
