Who is Mammane Sani Abdullaye? This name might not ring a bell for many in the West, but he's a legend in Niger's avant - garde music scene. As an early pioneer of West African electronic music, Mammane Sani crafted music that filled African airwaves, playing as background drones for TV news, radio broadcasts, etc. Using minimalist organ - playing techniques, Sani transforms ancient Nigerian melodies into something truly unique. The sound is like a blend of Mulatu and Onyeabor, filtered through a hazy dream - simply brilliant. 'La Musique Electronique Du Niger' was recorded in 1978 and was Sani's first and only proper album until 'Taaritt' came out last year. This is a rare chance to own it on black vinyl. It's a 2019 repress and comes with a digital download. The music is from the Sahel Sounds label (2019). Highly recommended.
