Description

Jazzman continues its excellent Islam - focused Spiritual Jazz collection with this two - part exploration of far - eastern sounds (Part One). Japan has a long - standing and deep - rooted love for jazz. After World War II, with an increased American presence, jazz music boomed there. By 1980, Japan became the world's largest per - capita market for jazz records. BBE's 'J Jazz: Deep Modern Jazz From Japan 1969 - 84' is a great intro, but this collection delves deeper into the 'esoteric, modal and progressive' jazz. The opening track 'Kumo No Ita' by Mitsuaki Kanno is a 14 - minute epic. Trumpet, guitar, flute, cello, two basses and three saxophones play over soulful piano chords and a funky beat. Tadao Hayashi's 'My Favorite Things' gives a new take on Trane's work. Koichi Matsukaze's 'Under Construction' and Shungo Sawada's 'Footprint' are funky, while Takeo Moriyama's 'East Plants', Sadao Watanabe's 'Ragam Sinthubairavi' and New Direction For The Arts' 'Sun In The East' capture the jazz spirit. Minoru Maraoka's 'Positive & Negative' balances spirituality and funk with koto and flute over a powerful bassline and a great drum solo. There are 8 tracks on double vinyl, housed in a high - quality textured gatefold with an obi strip. It comes with extensive English and Japanese essays, original album art and liner notes for each recording. A must - have for jazz lovers! Features include double vinyl pressing, a deluxe textured gatefold jacket, an obi strip, printed inner sleeves, and extensive liner notes and essays. Music label: Jazzman 2018. Using this vinyl record is easy. Just place it on your turntable and let the needle gently rest on the grooves to start playing. When handling the record, hold it by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat as this can warp the vinyl. Store it in a cool, dry place, and use the provided sleeve to protect it from dust. Clean the record regularly with a proper vinyl cleaner to maintain sound quality. Enjoy this amazing collection of Japanese spiritual jazz!
