Fact: Madlib kept his word with the Medicine Show series, releasing an album every month for a year. 'Medicine Show: Beat Konducta in Africa' is the third in the series, featuring 37 instrumental hip - hop beats made from early 70s African rarities. Madlib is like a production powerhouse! As with other 'Beat Konducta' albums, expect lots of short beat snippets and rare samples, flowing like a unique mixtape. Madlib got help from J Rocc on this one. All the beats have a strong foundation in afrobeat, psych, garage - rock, and soul from Zambia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Botswana, and Ivory Coast. This two - LP pic sleeve version is a must - have. It comes as a 'deep purple' colored double vinyl pressing, is a limited edition, originally released in 2010, and under the Madlib Invazion label in 2022. Reviewed by Aloo Pye in 09/2016.
