You've got that phase in life when you're new to everything. You meet cool folks who turn you on to awesome bands, movies, and ideas. It's like a golden age! For me, that was college. I first heard Portishead, Let Us Play!, and Endtroducing then, and they just blew my mind. Yeah, I had a corny style back then, but these albums still make me happy. They're key works in late 90s electronic music and have aged well. Endtroducing, which made DJ Shadow 'the Jimi Hendrix of the sampler', is still an amazing debut even after almost 10 years. Everyone knows it's made of samples, but each track goes beyond that and becomes something new. It's a must - have! Tracks include 'Building Steam With a Grain of Salt' with a crazy drum part, 'Number Song' based on a Metallica sample, 'Changeling' in a unique time signature, 'Midnight In a Perfect World' a genre - defining track, and 'What Does Your Soul Look Like Pt 1' the elegant finale. There are 12 tracks in total. It comes as a black double vinyl pressing with printed inner sleeves. Originally released in 1996, this version is from Mo Wax in 2022.
