DJ Shadow revisits his groundbreaking debut album, 'Endtroducing', with this superb 2LP vinyl set. It features a brand - new half - speed remaster cut at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Remember that exciting phase in your life when everything was fresh and new? For me, it was college, and albums like 'Portishead', 'Let Us Play!', and 'Endtroducing' blew my mind. Even now, they're still amazing, representing the peak of mid - to - late 90s electronic music. 'Endtroducing' established DJ Shadow as a pioneer. Each track, despite being sample - based, is a unique creation. Tracks like 'Building Steam With a Grain of Salt' have a wild drum breakdown, 'Number Song' samples Metallica, 'Changeling' has an unusual time signature, 'Midnight In a Perfect World' defines a genre, and 'What Does Your Soul Look Like Pt 1' is a perfect ending. This album is a must - own! The vinyl comes as a black double pressing, housed in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves and includes a wraparound obi strip. Originally released in 1996, it's reissued by Mo Wax in 2024. Reviewed by the Woodman in 11/2005.
