This is a late 1950s album from the influential alto saxophonist Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley. 'Somethin' Else', originally recorded in 1958, features a rare post - 1955 appearance of Miles Davis as a side man. At that time, Adderley was part of the Miles Davis Sextet, and Davis contributed here as a return favor. The rhythm section with pianist Hank Jones, bassist Sam Jones, and the legendary drummer Art Blakey is extremely tight, providing a solid base for some of the most lyrical works of Davis and Adderley.
