Bjork's 1993 debut solo album is a gem. Those who were around back then likely recall seeing the 'Human Behaviour' video on MTV for the first time. Michel Gondry's unique video introduced many to the Icelandic singer. 'Debut' saw the former Sugarcubes vocalist shift from her punk roots to a more electronic sound. The album's four singles - 'Human Behaviour,' 'Venus As A Boy,' 'Big Time Sensuality,' and 'Violently Happy' - put Bjork on the map. She also brought a strong jazz influence, working with jazz harpist Corky Hale on an early version of 'Like Someone in Love' and teaming up with The Art Ensemble of Chicago saxophonist Oliver Lake, whose work is on 'Aeroplane' and 'The Anchor Song.' With traces of house, jazz, and emerging trip hop, Bjork's ability to blend these styles was unparalleled at the time. Even today, the album is a joy from start to finish. It comes as a black vinyl pressing and was originally released in 1993 under the One Little Indian label in 2013. Reviewed by Michu Meszaros in 09/2014. Recommended.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Place the vinyl gently on the turntable and use the tonearm to lower the needle onto the starting groove. Sit back and relax as you listen to Bjork's amazing music. When you're done, lift the tonearm carefully and return it to its rest. Always handle the vinyl by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place, and keep it in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. This will help keep the vinyl in great shape for many listens to come.
