Capacity, the second album by Big Thief, was recorded in snow - bound upstate New York with frequent collaborator Andrew Sarlo. The tracks were first played and recorded on the same day, giving a raw and immediate feel. Led by lead guitar and vocalist Adrianne Lenker, the band has amazing sonic chemistry with Buck Meek (guitar), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums). As Lenker says, the album explores self - acceptance. Tracks like 'Pretty Things' feature Lenker's distinct drawl with acoustic guitar, 'Shark Smile' starts with crashing drums and surf - tinged guitar, and 'Mythological Beauty' begins with jaunty drumrolls. This album comes in a gatefold jacket with full lyrics and liner notes, pressed on black vinyl. It also includes a digital download. Originally released in 2017, it's under the Saddle Creek 2019 label. Highly recommended!
