This music was recorded 30 miles west of El Paso, in the midst of a 3,000 - acre pecan orchard. The band members were close together while recording. Big Thief, made up of Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, Max Oleartchik, and James Krivchenia, presents their significant album Two Hands. Just 5 months after the cosmic U.F.O.F., Two Hands has a dry, desert - like feel. It's about the earth and the growing real - world dangers to it. Lenker says these are the songs she's most proud of, calling the music and lyrics bare - bones. Producers Dom Monks and Andrew Sarlo focus on capturing the live studio sounds. Tracks like 'Forgotten Eyes' show a great soundstage with Lenker's vibrant vocals. 'Two Hands' starts with intertwined guitar and percussion, later enhanced by bass and acoustic details. 'Not' is a foreboding track with a slinky bassline and intense vocals. This is a black vinyl pressing, housed in a gatefold sleeve, and comes with a digital download. It's released by the 4AD label in 2019 and was reviewed by STAN RIDGEWAY in 09/2019.
