Just as we were getting restless, the lush represses of Beak> and >> arrived last week. Now, they've signed with Temporary Residence in North America and are releasing a follow - up to >> called >>>. 'Brean Down' showcases a more confident Barrow as a singer, with vocals prominently in the mix and a traditional verse - chorus structure. Paired with sparse guitar, doomsday bass, and militant drums, Beak> is still on a mission to make the perfect modern krautrock record. Unlike Can, which balanced sinister atmosphere with playfulness, Beak> is preparing us for the apocalypse. The lead single 'Allé Sauvage' is filled with cosmic dread, creating a tense and cinematic sound. Even the full - color album cover depicts Barrow in a hazmat suit.
