Check out Guided By Voices' 'Mag Earwhig!' This album features a transitional lineup. Founder Robert Pollard took charge after dismissing the band and brought in members of Cobra Verde. Some founding members also joined on a few tracks. It's the last album for Matador before the band moved to major labels and then returned in 2002. Production-wise, it's different from the previous year's lo - fi albums. 'I Am A Tree' is a hit for casual GBV fans, but also check 'Not Behind The Fighter Jet', 'Bulldog Skin' and 'Jane Of The Waking Universe'. It's a black vinyl with a digital download code. The gatefold jacket has lyrics and liner notes. Comes with a gatefold sleeve, digital download, and is from the Matador label in 2018. Reviewed in 02/2018.
