Joe Keery, known as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things, started his music journey in his teens after taking his sister's guitar. At DePaul University in Chicago, he formed his first band, Post Animal, a heavy psych rock group. They released a self - titled EP and two albums via Polyvinyl, toured with big names like Twin Peaks and Cage The Elephant, and played at US festivals. In 2019, Keery quietly launched his solo project, Djo, with the 12 - track album 'Twenty Twenty'. Despite being released without much fanfare and no label, it has over 200 million streams.
