Description

Billie Holiday's late career was troubled by drug abuse, drinking, and bad relationships. Yet, her voice kept its charm even when it grew fragile. 'Lady Sings The Blues' came out at the same time as her autobiography of the same name. Recorded in 1956, this album shows the singer at her best. It has four new tracks like 'Lady Sings the Blues,' 'Too Marvelous for Words,' and fresh recordings of her biggest hits. Notable re - recordings are 'Trav'lin' Light,' 'Strange Fruit,' and 'God Bless the Child.' Holiday was accompanied by great musicians like tenor saxophonist Paul Quinichette, trumpeters Charlie Shavers and Harry Edison. The group's accompaniment perfectly matches her bluesy laments. Many love this album for the smoky rasp in Holiday's later voice. It's pressed on Doxy's Audiophile Clear Vinyl. Music labels are Clef Records 1956 / Doxy 2014.

To enjoy this Billie Holiday vinyl LP, just place it on your record player carefully. Make sure the needle is clean and in good condition before starting the playback. When handling the vinyl, hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface. Store the LP in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. Also, keep it in its protective sleeve when not in use to avoid scratches. With proper care, you can enjoy the beautiful music of Lady Sings The Blues for a long time.
