Description

One of Bill Evans' most mysterious and intriguing recordings, 'Interplay' was made in July 1962. A young Freddie Hubbard from the Jazz Messengers, guitarist Jim Hall, bassist Percy Heath, and drummer Philly Joe Jones join Evans to perform five classic standards. Evans takes a blues - influenced approach, with a hard and edgy style that shows the influence of Hall's heavily swung playing. Hubbard's trumpet has an air of restraint, and his lyricism shines through. The title track, the only original on the album, showcases the quintet's unique power. Music label: Riverside Records 1962 / 1987. Reviewed by Cool Hand 04/2015.

To enjoy this Bill Evans' Interplay Vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the vinyl on the turntable and use the tonearm to set the needle on the starting groove. As you listen, try to soak in the unique blend of jazz styles. When you're done, lift the tonearm carefully and return it to its rest. Store the vinyl in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. Don't touch the playing surface with your fingers to avoid leaving oils and dirt that can affect the sound quality.
