Rarely does a film soundtrack influence production and pacing as much as Antonio Sanchez's percussive score for Birdman. Sanchez collaborated closely with director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. They recorded scene - by - scene demos, with Iñárritu guiding Sanchez during playback. Iñárritu then took these recordings to the set to direct the camera's action. After the film was cut, Sanchez returned to the studio to record the final score under Iñárritu's additional guidance. The drum kit sound was adjusted to fit the age of the theater where Birdman tries to make a comeback. Drums were detuned and cymbals stacked. As the film unfolds, the score gets more chaotic with multiple drum layers. The classical pieces on this release represent the radio music in Birdman's apartment and the show itself. It's a 180 - gram pressing, includes a 12' x 12' insert with director's liner notes, and is from the Milan label in 2015. Reviewed by Michu Meszaros in 04/2015.

To use this vinyl record, simply place it on your turntable, gently lower the tonearm onto the record, and enjoy the amazing drum score. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting fingerprints on it. Store the record in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. If the record gets dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust. And be careful when removing and inserting the 12' x 12' insert with liner notes to avoid tearing it.
