Brooklyn's Alex Burkat makes his Permanent Vacation debut. Having previously released 12 - inch records for Mister Saturday Night, 100% Silk, and Third Ear, it's clear Burkat knows how to get the crowd moving. This PermVac release is a real crowd - pleaser. 'Pay The Rent' starts with shiny melodies over tight, thumping drums, getting even the shyest person dancing. It has a beautiful, deep, and natural feel. 'Three Rivers' has a similar vibe, with resonant bass pulses balanced by otherworldly horn work. The Barnt Remix of 'Pay The Rent' emphasizes the atmosphere and those clear synth washes.
