No one knows who's behind GOAT, a mysterious group performing in tribal masks and robes. They hail from Korpilombolo, a remote Swedish village. On their third album, Requiem, they blend global sounds with post/psych - rock. In the first three tracks, the pan pipe leads the way as Afrobeat rhythms and guitar licks drive the songs forward. As the album progresses, there are more percussion - driven, often repetitive soundscapes, with female vocals adding chant - like elements. It offers a deep, almost spiritual listening experience. Must - listen tracks include “Goatfuzz,” “Goodbye,” “Alarms,” “Try My Robe,” “Temple Rhythms,” and “I Sing In Silence.” This Loser Edition is pressed on translucent red/black marbled vinyl and comes with digital downloads. Features a die - cut sleeve and is from the music label Sub Pop 2016. Reviewed by donut savage in 10/2016.
