Description

This is a deluxe expanded repress of Dominatrix's debut and only release on eye - catching hot pink vinyl. Back in 1984, 'The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight' was a synth - pop experiment. It involved Stuart Argabright (famous from Ike Yard and Black Rain), producers Ivan Ivan and Ken Lockie, vocalist Claudia Summers, and keyboardist Peter Baumann from Tangerine Dream. Released on Arthur Baker's Streetwise imprint, it was one of the first 'Freestyle' records to hit the mainstream. It also made its mark in various underground NYC scenes, from B - boy groups to bondage circles. Even today, its catchy hooks, solid drum programming, and funky, poppy synths keep it a favorite on the dancefloor. The expanded edition includes all four original mixes (12', Chants, Dominant, and Beat Me), the super - rare 'Scratch' Mix by Kool DJ Red Alert, 'City That Never Sleeps', and the newly discovered 'Play It Safe'. It comes with a deluxe 32 - page photo booklet with liner notes by Dave Tompkins. This limited pink vinyl edition from the Get On Down label in 2015 is highly recommended.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, first, make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the vinyl on the turntable and lower the tonearm onto the record. Sit back and enjoy the unique synth - pop sounds. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. After use, store the vinyl in its protective sleeve and keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Don't stack heavy objects on top of the vinyl to prevent warping. The included 32 - page booklet is a great addition to learn more about the music and its background, so keep it in a safe place too.
