The Contemporary Jazz Quintet, together for seven solid years, was a unique group. Despite not always being socially compatible, they were deeply committed to their music. They loved playing together so much that they risked curfews during riots to travel to Ann Arbor and play at the town bar. This live recording was captured at the 1973 Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival. It comes as a black double vinyl pressing, remastered from the original reel - to - reel tapes. It's making its vinyl debut! Housed in a heavy matte gatefold sleeve, it includes extensive liner notes, reproduced artwork, and original design concept sketches. The lineup features Kenny Cox, Charles Eubanks, Ron English, Marcus Townsend, Charles Moore, Phil Mendelsohn, Ron Brooks, Bud Spangler, Danny Spencer, and Adam Rudolph. With only 1000 copies in this limited edition, note that noise reduction has been applied, but some distortion may still be present due to the nature of live recordings. The music is released by Strata / 180 Proof in 2019.

To enjoy this vinyl record, first, make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the record on the turntable and lower the tonearm onto the starting groove. Sit back and let the amazing jazz music fill your room. When handling the record, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. After each use, carefully place the record back in its sleeve to protect it. Since it's a limited - edition item, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. And remember, due to the nature of the live recording, there might be some minor distortion even though noise reduction has been applied.
