Celebrate 15 years of Dave 1 and Pee Thug's smooth debut! This clear triple vinyl expanded edition brings all the original CD - only remixes from Playgroup (Trevor Jackson), Whitey, DFA (James Murphy & Tim Goldsworthy), and The Juan MacLean to vinyl for the first time. There are also new versions of 'Needy Girl' and 'Rage!' mixed by Philippe Zdar. It comes in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with new liner notes by Tiga. This record takes you back to a special time. Here's a full review from Blu Jemz when we first stocked the album. Chromeo features two guys from Montreal, Dave 1 (Vice magazine's music editor) and Pee Thug (from Audio Research label). The album is on Vice's label, giving it a 'Mark Ronson effect'. You might want to dislike it but can't. I heard 'Mercury Tears' over a year ago on a sampler CD without knowing the group and played it for a morning boost. Chromeo suits three types of people. First, DJs who play electro/funk - like music (Cameo, Prince, Lisa Lisa, etc). Second, those who love to party hard with drugs. Third, people who secretly long for the 80s. This isn't just a retro record; it combines Reaganomic funk with post - 2000 production techniques for a fresh sound. Listen to 'Me and My Man', 'You're So Gangsta', and 'Needy Girl' and see if you fit any group. Key features: clear triple vinyl pressing, 15th anniversary edition, rare CD - only remixes on vinyl, new liner notes by Tiga, deluxe gatefold sleeve, music label: Last Gang Records 2020. To use this vinyl record, first make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the record on the turntable and use the tonearm to carefully lower it onto the vinyl. Start playing the music and enjoy the rich sound. When you're done, lift the tonearm gently and return it to its rest. As for storage, keep the record in its deluxe gatefold sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Store it upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If the record gets dirty, you can use a vinyl record cleaning brush to gently clean the grooves. Be careful not to touch the grooves with your fingers as the oils can damage the vinyl over time.
