Chelsea Wolfe's sixth official album, Hiss Spun, is a masterpiece. Unlike her past albums that leaned on stripped - down folk intimacy or throbbing electronics, this one gets its charm from groaning bass, pounding drums, and crunching distortion. Recorded by Kurt Ballou of Converge, it's an emotional release. Chelsea wanted to face her inner unrest and the outside world's chaos. She said she was tired of hiding and made the record a very personal journey to open up and create her own reality. The album features contributions from Aaron Turner of Old Man Gloom and SUMAC, and Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age and Failure. This is an indie - exclusive, oxblood and black colored double vinyl pressing. The D - side is etched, and it's a limited edition of 1000, released by Sargent House in 2017.
