It's amazing that a decade has passed since 'Up In Flames' came out. This sophomore album by Dan Snaith, then known as pre - lawsuit Manitoba, shifted from his debut's electronica to more psychedelic sounds. Although it seems sample - based, the album's essence lies in live performances. The upfront drums, plenty of vocals (including from Stones Throw's Koushik), and the guitars with soaring reverb make it unique. It was a surprise for fans of 'Start Breaking My Heart', but Snaith showed great skill and attracted new fans. The tour for 'Up In Flames' was an incredibly loud, drum - heavy experience. The show was intense, hitting the audience with a powerful sonic wave. It's all worth it. Music label: Leaf 2013. Includes CD version. Reviewed by Michu Meszaros 06/2013.
