Ballet Slippers is a live album by Animal Collective, released to mark the 10th anniversary of their iconic studio album Merriweather Post Pavilion. Compiled from multiple shows during the 2009 North American tour, it follows a typical setlist of that time and features transitions and interludes. Merriweather was a culmination of Animal Collective's sonic experiments, a hypnagogic pop masterpiece driven by eclectic electronics and layered vocals. Ballet Slippers offers live renditions of nine out of eleven Merriweather tracks, many re - imagined and extended. It also includes unique takes on “Banshee Beat” and “Who Can Win a Rabbit”. This album showcases Animal Collective's uncompromising live aesthetic. It comes as a black triple vinyl in a deluxe book - style gatefold sleeve, with artwork by Rob Carmichael. A digital download is included, and it's a limited - edition release from Domino in 2019. Highly recommended.
