Active Child brings out the sensitive side of pop music. Pat Grossi, who was part of the Philadelphia Boy's Choir during his childhood, creates music with openness and vulnerability. 'Mercy', the sophomore full - length album, features Grossi removing the reverb from his vocals that marked his debut. His vocals remain raw and honest, but now show a more intimate side. Van Rivers' futuristic production combines with Grossi's harp and piano playing. Most of the songs are love songs, fitting perfectly with the vocals and production. It's a heartbreaking yet luxurious experience, sublimely exquisite. This is an 180 - gram pressing from the Vagrant label in 2015. Reviewed by Le Haim in July 2015.
