In 2017, Makaya McCraven was working on material for his 2018 masterpiece, Universal Beings. He visited four cities and jammed with local musicians, which led to a rich, unique, and groundbreaking album. During his three - day stay in London, he collaborated with Theon Cross, Nubya Garcia, and others. Besides the Universal Beings sessions, he had two improvised performances in the CHICAGOxLONDON showcase. The next Sunday, five producers were invited to do live remixes of the CHICAGOxLONDON recordings. Over the following months, Makaya chopped up the sessions and recomposed them into two continuous side suites. Now available on vinyl due to high demand. This album is amazing - gritty, futuristic, spontaneous, and with a strong groove. You'll want to play it on repeat. Turning organic music into something that still sounds organic after DAW treatment is a great achievement, but Makaya makes it look easy. The album has 14 tracks, comes in a heavy - weight matte jacket with a printed OBI strip and a two - sided IARC - TRC patterned inner sleeve.
