She tears trousers, he tears pants! 'Roforofo Fight' is the first true classic album from the super - productive Fela Kuti & Africa 70. Before this album's release, they put out 5 albums. This one fully refines their afrobeat sound, setting the stage for later masterpieces like 'Afrodisiac', 'Everything Scatter', 'He Miss Road', 'Zombie' and 'Expensive Shit'. 'Go Slow' lives up to its name. Though not a slow track (it's Fela, after all), it's a relatively calm reflection on Lagos traffic frustrations. 'Roforofo Fight' (a political battle with no clean - handed participants) is the real crowd - pleaser. It starts with Tony Allen's unbeatable beat that has inspired afro - centric rhythms for nearly half a century. Fela's sax dominates the first half, and around 8 minutes in, the 'black president' takes the lead and the party really kicks off. This black vinyl comes with a printed inner sleeve and a code for digital download. It's a must - have. Key features: black vinyl pressing, digital download included, original release in 1972, music label Knitting Factory 2017. Reviewed by Hannibal Chew in 12/2017.
