Finally, the uncensored version! This high - tech sounding album blew me away almost 20 years ago when I first heard it. Even now, its production values are unmatched. After 2001, the rap world was eager to hear what Dre had in store. The much - hyped Detox album never came out, and the lackluster Compton LP was too little, too late. I'm still mad at Dre for leaving music for overpriced headphones, but thankfully, the two Chronic albums are always worth a replay. Dre and his collaborators avoided fleeting tech references in their verses, unlike their peers who mentioned cars and pagers that now seem so dated. There are no standout tracks; just pour a Chronic Iced Tea and play this album from start to finish. It's a must - have.
