Description

You'll either adore the Cocteau Twins or not. These Scottish alt - rockers are famed for their inventive instrumentation and dreamy, non - lyrical vocals. Their otherworldly music can easily seep into your subconscious. The management describes their sound as 'a bit more off - kilter than Kate Bush but far cooler than Enya'. 'Blue Bell Knoll' was their debut album distributed in the US, with 'Carolyn's Fingers' being the first single many heard. Elizabeth Fraser's wild soprano is a band trademark, but Robin Guthrie's unique sound and arrangements are also worth notice. For this album, the band produced themselves, built their own studio, and recorded without time limits. The outcome is some of their finest and most authentic work yet. It laid the groundwork for 'Heaven or Las Vegas', widely regarded as their best album. Use 'Blue Bell Knoll' to explore the Cocteau Twins' alternative pop world. This 180g black vinyl comes with a printed inner sleeve, a digital download, was originally released in 1988, and is from the 4AD label in 2014. Reviewed by Michu Meszaros in 08/2014.
