Description

Discover this long - awaited collection of Wilfred Limonious' amazing dancehall sleeve designs, compiled by Al Fingers, author of top - notch books like Clarks In Jamaica and Greensleeves: The First 100 Covers. In Fine Style traces Limonious' journey from a pamphlet illustrator to a cartoonist and then to Jamaica's leading sleeve designer for reggae and dancehall records in the 80s and early 90s. The Original Stalag 17, 18 & 19 riddim compilation on Winston Riley's Techniques label showcases his best - known design. His highly collectible sleeves feature a front portrait of the artist between colorful lettering and detailed back - cover cartoon drawings of wild dance - hall scenes with deejays, selectors, and dancers in funny situations. His vivid art has inspired generations of dancehall fans, including Diplo and Major Lazer. This book is almost a complete archive of Limonious' designs for top artists like Frankie Paul, Sugar Minott, Little John, and Toyan. Nearly every 80s dancehall artist had an LP sleeve with his unique touch. It's a must - have! It comes in a hardcover edition with 272 pages. Reviewed by peanut dust in 02/2017.

This book is great for just sitting back and flipping through to enjoy the amazing designs. You can start from the beginning and follow Limonious' artistic journey or just randomly open it to a page and soak in the colorful illustrations. Keep it away from water and direct sunlight to prevent damage to the pages. If it gets dirty, gently wipe it with a dry cloth. You can display it on your bookshelf to show off your love for dancehall art or carry it with you to share with friends at gatherings.
