Charles Wright, a talented singer, pianist, and guitarist, led the legendary Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band in the late '60s and early '70s, formerly known as the Soul Runners. Drummer James Gadson and guitarist Al McKay, who later joined Earth, Wind & Fire, were part of the band. Their hit 'Express Yourself' is a song about the desire for freedom and has been widely sampled by hip - hop and rap groups like N.W.A., Kurtis Blow, and Fu - Schnickens. This track is from their 1970 self - titled album that also includes the popular ballad 'Love Land'. Now, 'Express Yourself' is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on 180g turquoise colored vinyl from Music On Vinyl in 2023.
