In late 1996, just under 15 months after their self - titled debut, New York City's Bowery Electric dropped their second album, Beat. In that short time, they made a huge musical leap. They took the classic guitar/bass/drums/vocal setup to new heights. Their approach got a major upgrade: the noisy, distorted guitars turned into dreamy, sensuous waves of sound. Live drums were replaced with sampled rhythms, in tune with the emerging down - tempo trend. Bass lines became simple yet effective, and vocals blended seamlessly with the instrument haze. Even the lyrics were kept minimal to let the music shine. Beat is a rich and immersive experience, full of shadowy percussion, faint vocals, and captivating drones that wrap you in a warm sonic blanket. It's the second album in a trio by Lawrence Chandler and Martha Schwendener, and it's their defining work. Now, 20 years after its original release, this album is available on vinyl for the first time in nearly two decades and for the first time in the U.S. It comes as a black double vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve. Originally released in 1996, it's a Kranky 2020 release.

To enjoy this Bowery Electric's Beat Vinyl 2LP, first, gently remove it from the gatefold sleeve. Make sure your turntable is clean and set up properly. Place the vinyl on the turntable, center it, and then gently drop the needle onto the groove. Sit back and let the rich sounds of the album wash over you. When you're done listening, carefully lift the needle and return it to its rest. Put the vinyl back into the sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Avoid touching the playing surface of the vinyl with your fingers to prevent dirt and oil transfer. With proper care, this vinyl will provide you with many years of great music.
