Description

The Black Unity Trio's Al Fatihah is a milestone in free jazz history. It was likely the first independently - released free jazz record. Starting as the Black Unity Quartet in Oberlin, Ohio, the group became a trio (Abdul Wadud, Yusuf Mumin, and Hasan Al Hut). They recorded this classic on December 24, 1968, at Agency Recording Studio in Cleveland. The album, released in May 1969 with only 500 copies, has gained legendary status among collectors, producers, and DJs over the decades and has been sampled many times. Until 2020, much about its origin and the musicians' status was a mystery. This is a rare private - press LP from an Ohio free - jazz outfit. It's on black vinyl, remastered from original analog tapes. It comes with a printed insert full of liner notes. Features Yusuf Mumin on sax, Ron DeVaughn on bass, and Haasan - Al - hut on drums. Music label: Gotta Groove Records 2021.

To enjoy this amazing vinyl LP, just place it on your turntable carefully. Make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. When handling the record, hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface. After each use, store it back in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If it gets dirty, you can use a vinyl record cleaner to gently clean it. This LP is a rare gem, so handle it with care to keep it in great shape for years to come.
