While I didn't recognize many bands at first, the idea of hearing Morrissey's songs sung by others was too tempting to resist. As I listened, I realized I knew some acts like Sixpence None The Richer covering 'Strangeways' coda 'I Won't Share You', and Katy Goodman of La Sera and Vivian Girls with a laid - back version of 'What She Said'. Chikita Violenta combines 'Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others' with drum & bass in a surprising way. The highlights are female - sung tracks. Sara Lov nails the sad vibe in 'Well I Wonder', Trespassers William do a great 'There Is A Light', Tanya Donnelly offers 'Shoplifters Of The World', Elk City performs 'I Know It's Over', and Girl In A Coma does 'Rubber Ring'. It's a great start for those who love The Smiths' dreary songs but not Mozzer's voice. The sleeve art by American Laundromat is spot - on. It features powder blue colored vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, includes a digital download, and is a one - time pressing of 500 copies.
