Bassist Jasper Verhulst founded Altin Gun to express his love for Turkish folk and psychedelia. 'Gece' follows the band's well - received 2018 debut, 'On'. Inspired by late '60s and '70s Anatolian rock and folk, the band delivers modern, 'explosive, funky and transcendent' psych rock. The record is an exciting listen with fresh grooves and gritty psychedelic textures. Verhulst and the team reimagine the sounds they cover, making them their own. Vocals by Erdinc Ecevit and Merve Dasdemir are captivating over instrumentals featuring the saz, keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums. Altin Gun's interpretations of Turkey's musical heritage (except the original 'Sofor Bey') shine in tracks like 'Yolcu', 'Supurgesi Yoncadan', 'Leyla', and 'Kolbasti'. This is a limited - edition teal blue vinyl released in 2019 under ATO Records in 2021 and was reviewed in May 2019.
